A Super Simple Marketing Plan (for business making less than$5k per month)

Marketing Action Plan

If you are just getting started in business, or if you are making less than $5k per month, I like to call you a “Rising Star” in business. At this stage, your goal is to get proof of concept, proof that people will buy what you’re selling, create consistent income, and get at least 10 paid sales.

Business Model:

Focus on ONE core offer and a down-sell. Don’t try to do more than that.

Leads:

Tell 25+ people a week what you do. Focus on 1:1 Conversations

  • 1-2 speaking gigs a month (this can include podcast guest, Facebook Lives, etc.)
  • Daily outreach 3-5 people per day (from your Network of 90 and List of 20)
  • 4 networking events per month
  • 1 sponsorship per quarter
  • Ask everybody for referrals

Sales:

In the beginning, you might only have a 10% close rate, that’s why you need more volume of leads.

Software:

CRM and/or email marketing system (ex: Constant Contact, MailChimp, Less Annoying CRM, etc.)

Team:

Bookkeeper/CPA

Primary Focus:

Book 1:1 Sales Conversations

At this point your focus should NOT be fancy, multi-page websites, group programs, memberships, digital and information products, etc. Focus on getting more 1-1 clients.

Remember that “done is better than perfect”. Just get into action and start to create momentum in your business! Don’t worry about TikTok, Instagram and all those other bright, shiny tech tools that can easily get you off track and distract you from your main goal – get leads and clients!
