Did you know that Google just finished making another 65 adjustments to its algorithm. It’s becoming incredibly difficult for a website to rank on page one for their chosen key words. And it takes a heck of a lot more than just a website to develop a solid web presence that positions you as an expert, distinguishes you from the competition, and communicates your value.
The big buzz phrase now is “authority ranking”. You need to be seen by the search engines as an authority and that requires a much bigger digital footprint. This means leverage two of the most powerful online tools and combine them with everything else you do. I’m talking about leveraging video and leveraging Amazon.com.
This is the year of the video. Video has come a long way over the past few years and it’s easier than ever to record videos to help promote your business. It used to be you had to go to a professional videographer to shoot a quality video, but no more. You can create great looking videos with a pocket-sized Flip cam, iPad or iPhone. Upload your videos to YouTube, now the #2 most trafficked and you can create massive visibility for yourself and your small business.
If you are new to video marketing you might be wondering how to get started. One of the smartest ideas that I’m using myself and with my clients is called the 10×10 Formula. It was developed by a guy named Mike Koenigs, who I’ve come to know through his marketing products and trainings for small businesses. He has been excelling at video marketing, with clients like Tony Robbins and Harvey McKay.
The formula is simple. Start by writing down the 10 most frequently asked questions you get from prospects/clients (FAQs) and the 10 should be asked questions about your business or area of expertise (SAQs). Then you record 20 short 2-3 minute videos of you answering these questions and distribute them online through a website, on YouTube and through video syndication channels.
Experimenting with this myself, I have gotten the highest opt-in rates to my email list of anything I’ve done in the past 4 years and my clients are seeing great results too. Add social media sharing with sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Pinterest and you have a very powerful, viral marketing tool.
In addition, we now have easy access to the most powerful, yet underutilized media platforms in the world – Amazon.com. Nothing magnifies your “authority ranking” more than publishing a book. With the Kindle format and the ability to have your book printed on demand, you can be a self-published author in just minutes! Anyone can do this.
